RK&K fulfilled Section 106 historic architectural tasks for this roadway improvement project. The study area contained a mix of mid-19th to 20th century resources, including residences, farm properties and a railroad and turnpike alignment. RK&K’s architectural historians delineated the area of potential effects; identified consulting parties; conducted extensive background research; surveyed and evaluated 30 architectural resources according to the National Register of Historic Places Criteria; completed WV SHPO Historic Property Inventory Forms; identified historic properties; conducted a Phase I archaeological study; and prepared a Phase I Cultural Resource Management Report with a no adverse effect finding, allowing the project to move forward.
